May 18, 2016 - Scottsdale, AZ – Executive Aircraft Maintenance (EAM) of Scottsdale, Arizona recently completed the first field installation of Garmin’s ADS-B In/Out solution, based on Garmin’s GTX 3000 transponder and GDL 88 WAAS/ADS-B receiver. The installation was completed on S/N219, Learjet Model 60 owned by Red River Resources based in Phoenix, Arizona.
“Garmin was pleased to hear Executive Aircraft Maintenance would be completing their first installation of our Part 25 ADS-B solution,” said Jim Alpiser, director of worldwide aftermarket sales. “Our solution for the Learjet 60 provides operators a valuable choice in the ADS-B marketplace, and dealers like EAM assure our customers have the best possible experience during the installation.”
Unlike other available ADS-B modifications, the Garmin ADS-B In/Out solution installed by EAM provides ADS-B Out compliance with or without WAAS FMS onboard the aircraft. The remote-‐mount GTX 3000 Mode S Extended Squitter (ES) transponders, GDL 88 WAAS receiver and ADS-B datalink were combined by Garmin and expertly installed by EAM to meet all ADS-B requirements. In addition, Garmin’s Flight Stream 210 was installed to provide the crew with beneficial flight data, such as weather updates, flight trajectory, and NEXRAD imagery via Flight Information Service – Broadcast (FIS-B). All of the data is accessible on compatible personal electronic device, making it easy and efficient to use during flight. The system is certified via STC for the Lear 60 by Butler Aviation of New Century, Kansas.
Keith Lorch, Chief Pilot for Red River Resources, has been flying S/N219 for 15 years and has flown Learjets for over 45 years. He was floored by the expertise and speed of the team at EAM.
“I first met EAM’s Avionics Manager, Bill Forbes, when I brought the aircraft into the EAM Scottsdale facility. I asked him how many ADS-B systems they had installed. His answer of 150 to 200 floored me. This was the first field install of this system, and incredibly enough, the aircraft was ready to fly on the 8th day of the install process! I couldn’t be more pleased with my first experience at EAM. They certainly don’t have any shortage of talented technicians!”
Bill Forbes, Avionic Manger at EAM, made sure that the first install of this system went as smoothly as possible.
“EAM has been a Garmin Authorized Dealer for nine years and we’re excited to achieve the first install of this Garmin system. We’ve installed ADS‐B on hundreds of Aircraft and know what a true need there is for this type of technology for the Learjet,” said Forbes. “I’m looking forward to working with more Learjet owners and operators like Keith who want an affordable way to address the need for more airspace data and information.”
EAM has been an Authorized Garmin Dealer since 2007 and has been awarded the Garmin Platinum Sales Recognition Award for six consecutive years.
